Ever struggle with feeling left out? CLUMSY CALLIE, a 780 word picture book (age range 4-8), takes you through a little girl’s world of disappointment and embarrassment. She is constantly teased by others for her clumsiness. She constantly gets hurt, breaks things, ruins things for others, and much more. Feeling super defeated, her mother tells her she was invited to her classmates birthday party. She feared she would ruin the entire day, and questioned if she should even go. With some encouragement from her mother, she decided to give it a shot. Would she be left out once again? Would others tease her? Would she ruin the entire party? Just wait til the birthday cake goes flying through the air. You will be shocked by the outcome!
“Clumsy clumsy Callie”, the kids all say. “She is such a klutz, no one will join her to play.” This is repeated several times in the book. A chant that will haunt Callie and make her not feel good enough.
Will she overcome her fears? Will her clumsiness ever come to her advantage?
About the Author
As a mother to three young children, I have experienced all the emotions possible. This story was inspired by myself and my middle child. The thing we have most in common is our clumsiness. I have the scars to prove it! At a younger age, I always would get down on myself for this fault. I have now noticed my daughter is going through the exact same emotions. I want all of my children to embrace their faults and understand that it doesn’t have to always be a negative thing. I wrote this story to help inspire my child and all children!
Whether you are clumsy like Callie or you don’t feel as if you fit in, read this story and realize that opinions of others don’t justify who you are as a person. As a college graduate and a career that lacked passion, I was transformed into a stay at home mother. I became the ultimate bed time story teller which inspired me to start writing down all of my ideas with some help from my actual children. I have gone to my children’s schools and read several of these stories with a wonderful reaction from their classmates and teachers.
I am extremely passionate to fill a child’s head with a magical story that has a heart warming lesson. I want to inspire children as well as educate on anti-bullying. I hope this story can get on shelves and help children around the world deal with their emotions in a better way.
